How do they sound biased

What

(Anonymous) 2017-03-09 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
They don't sound like they even enjoy the MCU-ilk of movies, or think much of the major characters going in. I don't know what they expected. CW is exactly the movie that marketing and previous installments have led up to.

That doesn't make them BIAS

It just means that they don't like the movie or think it's good, which is literally all that they said

Not sure about bias, but it sounds like they had expectations for the film that come from the type of person who enjoys hate-watching things.

Re: nayrt

I guess. It's possible. I just don't see how any of this stuff really invalidates their opinion that they didn't like the movie or think it was good.

That's not really anything anyone said either? You sound weirdly upset on their behalf.

Re: nayrt

It just bugs me to be like "Ah ha! Actually your opinion doesn't COUNT!" and that's how the comment came off. Actually, you have to be wrong about it being bad, because you're biased. It just seems silly.

Nobody said the OP's opinion doesn't count. I'm actually saying, "You're right, it is a big dumb action flick. Since all the movies that came before were just like that, why did you go see this one?" Since the OP complained at length about their dreadful viewing experience, and sound so very put-upon, and all.

I also feel like you're reading a lot into that. OP didn't say anything about previous expectations, just that they hated the film. Is it not possible to watch a film and hope certain characters die? And even if OP didn't like them from the start, so what? Their opinion is still equally valid to yours. It's almost like people have different tastes.

Um, excuse me, but when did I say their opinion wasn't valid?

NAYRT

saying that someone's opinion is the result of bias seems to me to be discounting or invalidating it

Re: nayrt

(Anonymous) 2017-03-09 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
DA

You're responding to a comment that literally says they don't want to use the word 'bias'.

Re: nayrt

(Anonymous) 2017-03-09 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
In defense of the position of a person who did use the word bias

Re: nayrt

(Anonymous) 2017-03-09 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
Why do you assume anon was defending first anon's position?

(Anonymous) 2017-03-09 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
Would you prefer 'pre-disposed toward disliking the film'? Because I just explained to you how a vehement dislike of big action set pieces (MCU movies always end in a big punchy fight, this isn't new) and an expectation for character deaths among the main cast would seem to indicate that someone is biased against a Civil War-esque movie.

God, THIS.
