Commenting on journals

I know most here probably only use their DW account for F!S, but I'm curious. What are your thoughts on commenting on public journal entries? Should you introduce yourself? Is it all fair game, since it's public? Or should you stay away since you're a stranger?

Well, it is public, isn't it? I like that journal sites allow commenting. You should take advantage. Just know that if you are rude, you may be blocked.

Yup, pretty much. My own thoughts are that as long as you're polite and not trolling, go for it. It's a public entry afterall.

I just comment. Sometimes they'll ask, most of the time, I just have a random conversation. Go for it!

Depends on the person, me thinks. Some people don't like getting comments on their entries while others do and will reply. If you think they are open to comments then I'd say go for it.

I comment - usually saying "here via..." however I got there.

Perfectly fine! They can lock or do custom groups if they want it otherwise. But saying something like "hi, I just found this and I hope you don't mind..." is a nice way of breaking the ice.
