I'm a Scotch Single Malt fan and the spelling in fanfic is the minor annoyance. What I'm rolling my eyes at mostly are the ages. So many fics where characters are drinking 50 year old Scotch. And a 12 year old Scotch will still be a 12 year old Scotch, regardless if it's bottled in 2000 or 1990 or 1970 or whatever, because unlike wine, it doesn't mature in the bottle.

But honestly, I'm rolling my eyes more at canons that get it wrong, messing up the ages and the name of the distilleries, and so on.

Yes! The ages thing kills me. Scotch is not wine!

I just feel like fanfic authors will find any semi-familiar sounding Scotch and tack a random year on there. Like 'So-and-so was drinking a 20 year old Glenlivet' but, but... that's not how it works!

And yeah, canon isn't much better in a lot of cases.
