Honestly, if I was being held hostage by someone and they told me "you can go everywhere but 'x' place, that is forbidden", I would be practically jumping over myself to sneak in there. My first thought would be that they might have something that I might use to escape, or in Belle's case, to defeat the terrifying monster that's she's being held prisoner by. It's a freaking magic castle; in a different fairy tale that's probably where the magic McGuffin to beat the bad guy would be held. And it actually is - it's just that this story's McGuffin is not particularly useful to Belle.
