I've seen so many fics this could apply to... :/

So, so many. The supercool edgy teen genre is getting scarier than ever right now. And I say this as someone who lived through the Evangelion super-Shinji fanfic period. And the God-Mode Harry Potter who pwns Dumbledore, Snape, and Voldemort and the Evil Weasleys fanfic epoch. The badass angry character who rights great wrongs is waaaay overplayed and way darker and angryier than ever.

The Harry Potter fandom is the on I originally wrote this for. So many fics that start with "like canon except if Harry had a spine" and it just makes me go "Oh dear fuck this is going to be some kind of ride."

The worst are when Harry is acting like a sadist to his enemies and is still treated as completely morally pure. At least Dark Harry fics admit that he's pretty dark.

Oh god yeah, some of those superharry fics were really disturbing. The sort of stuff that makes you hope the author is going to get professional help before they explode. The sheer amount of rape, knowing forcible rape at that, was just beyond the pale.
