Re: A possibly odd question:
(Anonymous) 2017-03-13 12:22 am (UTC)(link)1. As people have said, ideal male fitness is coded as 'strong and powerful' where as media ideal female fitness is more 'slim and sexy' still
2. The whole 'slim and sexy' female fitness part might not appeal because it's not that different to the everyday media ideal female body image, just with a bit more muscle definition.
3. On that point, seeking out women who are less 'instagram cardio clean eating look at my abs in this crop top 'fit'' and more functionally fit and strong, with the range of body shapes that reflect that, might help. E.g. Ronda Rousey and other female MMA fighters, olympic athletes in all fields, etc. Seek them out in action as well.
For me, it's the whole thing that women are now supposed to be 'fit and sexy', but the fitness is never allowed to interfere with sexiness e.g. 'do yoga for lean and toned muscles, you don't want to bulk up!' 'Do squats for a bigger butt, you don't want to look manly do you?' 'Ab exercises for a tiny waist, core strength is incidental, make sure you keep that hip-waist ratio low girls!'. So I find refreshing and motivating to see women's bodies that are obviously strong for the sake of athleticism, rather than sexiness - women with broad, muscly shoulder that are wider than their hips, women with a bulky, muscly core in place of a dainty waist, women with big strong arms and thighs way too thick with muscle to have a thigh gap. That type of thing.
