I dunno. I guess I don't get being mad that you don't fit in with a group whose tastes you don't actually share. Like if you don't like or want to yell about tea or brag about spending money on books and action figures, why be bitter that you're being excluded from a community who enjoys that type of thing? Even if you were included, you'd still be stuck in a community that's super enthusiastic about stuff you don't care about... and that would be awesome...?


Person A: I watch the occasional football game but I hate it when people talk about The Big Game, wear team merchandise and throw Superbowl/tailgate parties.
Persons B-G: We love football and talking about The Big Game! We love throwing Superbowl parties, swearing team merch and tailgating, pass the hot wings woooooooo!
Person A: Look at those assholes, being all elitist and excluding me from being a member of the Football Loving Community.


I mean... what? It just feels like Person A is looking for reasons to be mad.

More like "I'm a football fan. Watching football is my hobby. But the hardcore football fans make me feel left out. Follow a team? Whatever-- I'm not sure what the teams are. The names are all so weird -- the Someplace Something's. And they watch games every week during football season. Sometimes they watch more than one game in one day! Who's got time for that? I watch one game a year and the Super Bowl commercials on YouTube, and that's plenty. They talk about going to games at like, stadiums and things. That literally sounds like hell. Gee, I guess I don't like football that much. "

Except your analogy falls apart because it's clear from the secret itself that nobody is actually telling the OP they're not a "real" bibliophile. They just have a weird chip on their shoulder about people enjoying books in a way that doesn't match their own, then claiming to be excluded by people who are just stating their own personal preferences.

I can understand getting annoyed at tumblr for their suggestions, but it still doesn't make sense to be so bitter about it. It's not done to spite OP, but OP is determined to act like this is a personal insult and it's kind of weird.
