4. *is in total agreement*... I bawled like a baby at that scene because goddamn it, that was such a cruel thing to happen! I don't know... but I think that got me equally as bad as the end scene in the series (oh god... he's immortal and yet has to be alone forever! HOLY SHIT THAT IS NOT A BLOODY REWARD!)

Not only is he immortal and has to be alone forever, in that everyone he knows is going to die, his entire "species" is going to die. He's going to be the ONLY one.

...and he is going to be left alone with the species who he personally kept imprisoned for a long period of time. Simon may be sparkly and forgiving, which faith in humanity. I don't have that much. I'm quite certain that once the crew he fought with is dead, he's screwed.

I know... plus also, at that point in time, defeating Gurren Lagann was the only thing he was hoping to live for... and that was taken away from him too. I don't know how anyone could view that as a reward... and what the OP (you are the Original Poster of the secret aren't you?) said in reference to the screenshot is totally true. Everything he believed in betrayed him in the end (and it true, he is just left completely alone at the end, despite getting back an aspect of his former captaincy. He ends up just like Simon... only far worse). That was probably the most depressing thing about the show... everyone ends up alone in the end. T_T
