I want to thank you, as a person who stares for long periods of time at CLAMP's art for no reason but to admire, for pointing out that CLAMP has a much softer style than what we see in Code Geass.

CLAMP just would not have made Lulu so boney and everyone's hair would be more wispy and Suzaku would probably have wider shoulders if Mokona were the artist, but if it was Nekoi he'd be thin with no muscle, not even as much as the animators give him. No, definitly, that art is not CLAMP's.

And Lulu's hair wouldn't be angular. My God, it has points in it.

Yeah, I have CLAMP art books and everything. I absolutely adore their style, originally. I'm not too thrilled with recent Tsubasa and xxxHolic, mainly because I feel like they've started to stop putting in a lot of detail just so they can get the story out faster. I'd rather longer waits between chapters and more detail, like CCS and X style, but I think I'm in the minority on this one.

That is exactly what I was just ranting to my girlfriend about.

I even put up an old CLAMP in Wonderland image and the new CLAMP in Cardland image to compare, and yes, it's totally flat colors and less shade differences and it's... really disappointing to me.

I'm so glad I've found someone who agrees~ ^_^

Yeah, I think a lot of people are still reading CLAMP because of the plots and characters, which are awesome. That includes myself. I used to include the artwork as a reason, but now it's just not.

I've especially missed the intricate horror scenes. They used to draw really great scenes with lots of blood and such, in X particularly. But now, the horror elemnts in Tsubasa are really not as effective. I'm not sure if you've read the latest chapters or not, but recently there've been a bunch of scenes that I think would have been much more effective if they were done in a more detailed style. :(

It never connected in my head, but I do fangirl over the amazing violence in X and it's just... not happened for me in Tsubasa, yet. That may be the reason. Or it may be that they haven't tied anyone to a giant cross, yet? Oo... It could be!

But yeah, I'm still reading for the plot, too. But the artwork is the reason I'm a CLAMP fan and it's not quite there, anymore...
