I wrote an essay on the phenomenon (http://akai-senshi.insanejournal.com/25822.html). (I also think that guys who get off on "lesbian" porn, especially those who enjoy the ladies sucking each other's strap-ons, have a hidden gay part of their personality they don't really want to express.)

Still wrong on that though and it's pretty biased as well. Come back when you do a actual study on that because opinions =/= fact and it's a pretty silly stereotype that fujoshi want to be gay when they read two men going at it. Sexuality doesn't quite work that way.

I'm not saying they want to be gay. I'm just saying people tend to repress some bisexual impulses.

What I never got about the yaoi phenomenon is why female fans are so disgusted with typical secondary male sex characteristics, such as chest hair or a muscular build.

(Of course I'm biased. I'm a gay man, and I love me some bara. Where men look and act like, well, men.)

Bara act like men? LOL. I read bara and there's no difference than with hardcore BL. Plus the men look just as equally unrealistic when all of them look like they're on steroids and everyone knows that steroids actually shrink the penis too

And obvious you haven't lurked more if you don't think that there's BL with both partners with a lean, muscular build or a normal one. There's a lot more diversity in body types in BL than you give credit for.

And some women in general, not just fujoshi, don't like male body hair (just look at a Playgirl magazine or a cover of a romance novel). The same reason why men are aghast with women with body hair, really.
