It's kind of an awful plot. Jack Nicholson is a gigantic misogynist asshole best selling novelist who somehow ends up with Helen Hunt, a woman 26 years his junior who for some reason puts up with his horrible behavior. It's supposedly a romantic comedy.

I hate Jack Nicholson on principle; he's evil; he just is. But isn't the character supposed to be on the autistic spectrum or something? The movie kinda makes sense to me in that light.

He has obsessive-compulsive disorder, and if you believe that being OCD also means you can't help being a misogynist and homophobe, then sure, it makes sense that he's that way. I personally don't believe that, however, and I'm inclined to think that mental illness isn't really an excuse for behaving like a douchebag.

I had no desire to watch the film before, and now I have, if possible, even less. Thank you for rescuing me from it.

He does kind of 'get it' at the end, and the friendship between Helen Hunt and the other guy (who i can't remember right now) is really sweet. It has some good points, for sure, but only like - one or two of them are JN's - the rest go to the rest of the cast.

I'd watch with my finger on the ff button.
