Nah, I've just seen this kind of thing way too often over multiple fandoms where they shoot down every single argument someone might have because it's not the "right" one and they want you to say BUT IT'S NOT MY THING except when you do they always demand better reasons to your face or are secretly smug about how they were right and you have no GOOD reason to dislike their pet pairing.

Lol except the reasons for this are pretty stupid. You can just say "it's not my thing, I just don't like it", but searching around for any reason you can even if it makes zero sense within the narrative (it's not pedophilia or power imbalance it's a fucking robot monk and his student is 15 years his senior and human), it sounds more like people are grasping at hella straws because they can't just say "it just doesn't appeal to me", there has to be something legitimately WRONG with the pairing because you don't like it.

Also, the fact that you said "secretly smug" makes me think you're projecting like hell. Unless you can point to that person being actually smug about it, it sounds like what I outlined above. I don't give a fuck if you don't like robots fucking or whatever, but I do take issue with "omg ROBOT PEDOPHILIA, POWER IMBALANCE, MONKS ARE CELIBATE, BLAH BLAH" it's like people are trying to find something, anything they can to make Genyatta "problematic" solely because it's "not their thing".
