Yeah, but some of it is the oversaturation with modern media. If you never get used to other styles of films, of course you can't get into them!
I'm glad that growing up my parents made sure we had a variety, and not just all the big 90s things.
It's the same thing with books - we grew up reading classics too, reading older children's books. When I was a kid, one of my absolute favorite books was The Swiss Family Robinson, and another was White Fang. Neither of those books are especially new.
Palate is a thing that needs to be developed.
