Happy Audiobooks

(Anonymous) 2017-03-25 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
I am looking for some happy fiction novels. It can have some sad moments but I want them to be overall fun/happy. I need something positive to listen to at work.

Podcasts would work too.

My go-to comfort audiobook is Pride & Prejudice read by Emilia Fox. I've listened to it so many times, it's my favourite reading of that book. The Harry Potter books read by Stephen Fry are also a good option.

For podcasts, The Infinite Monkey Cage is a lot of fun (and educational!). I've also been listening to The Worst Idea Of All Time lately and it's pretty funny - two New Zealand comedians watch the same movie every week for a year and do a podcast episode after each watch. Nonsensicalness ensues.

Seconding Emilia Fox's P&P. Juliet Stephenson has done Jane Austen's other novels and they're very good too, though they're not as light and bright and sparkling as P&P.

Currently I'm listening to "Village School" by Miss Read. Life in a 1950s English village. Loads of dry humour.

I've only listened to a few of the Discworld novels o n audio but I think you can't go wrong with them.

Any good reincarnation fanfics? As in "canon characters are reincarnated into new people", not "my self-insert was reincarnated into the canon universe".

I think a LOT of anime are based on reincarnation, though the only two I can think off off hand are Yami No Matsuei and Sousei no Aquarion.

You could check TVTropes?

What fandom? I have read some good reincarnation fics for SNK (mostly Ereri, as I ship it).
