Thank you for this. I watched this episode and I felt like tearing my hair out.

Yes, it was the perpetrators who kidnapped, raped (multiple times), and murdered this girl (by making her jump off of a not-very-high bridge where she slowly just died of her injuries). And had the mother seemed at all remorseful, I'd have been on her side 100%. The girl knew her way home and it wasn't far to walk. It was really just bad luck for the girl that her mom forgot and that she was in the path of monsters. It was no one's fault but the murderers.

But still, I kept waiting for something from the mother besides contempt for law enforcement. I know her remorse was probably private and something she's worked to get over, but it still made me hate her.

And I find it weirdly awesome to see a Cold Case Files secret here.
