Re: Complaints!
Here's a typical example:
A few years back, I was living with my dad, and we had recently adopted two cats: one adult and one kitten (Tobias). I had the opportunity to travel to a three-day conference for work in a city which was a six-hour drive away. The morning I left, we couldn't find Tobias in the house. I looked everywhere I could before I absolutely had to leave, no dice, and as I was leaving, I asked my dad to check outside around the house in case Tobias had escaped out an open door. My dad said, "I know that didn't happen," and that was it as far as he was concerned. He wouldn't budge.
The entire time I was at the conference, he kept texting and calling to update me on the fact that Tobias was still missing, and I kept saying, "Please, check outside! He could have gotten out!" My dad kept insisting that was impossible, and instead said things like, "He probably got stuck somewhere in the house and died. The other cat keeps looking for him and meowing, but I tell him, 'You'll have to get used to it. He's not coming back.'" I was so angry and frustrated with him, I can't even tell you.
I had to stay at the conference for two days because I was presenting twice, but the minute my second session was over, I got my things, checked out of the hotel, and sped all the way home because god-fucking-dammit, my kitten is most definitely outside in the cold and will starve to death soon if he hasn't died already. I walk through the door, and my dad is standing in the kitchen with Tobias in his arms. "Guess who showed up on the back porch just a few minutes ago?" he says with a grin. "I think he must have gotten out of the house when I opened the garage in the morning right before you left." Then he just chuckles while I flip out on him for not believing me or listening to me.
It's hard not to hate people who are like this.
(Here is Tobias now as I type.)

(Anonymous) 2017-03-26 06:09 am (UTC)(link)Yikes, that's terrible. Happy your kitty is okay!
I think if it was about something this important, my friend's behaviour wouldn't be this bad, though.
