Heh, I was expecting a discussion over the definition of drabble, but as a drabble fanatic purist I am pleased, of course. :D

I get wanting to be anonymous (we're on F!S after all). But there really isn't any need to apologize for transformative writing in a fanfic community.

And to whether it can be a tribute when you don't find the original satisfying: you can say that for instance the "Poirot" TV-series expands on the sometimes flat characters in Christie's books. Is that a critique or is it adding positively to the original?

I am sure you can find a positive spin that is still true. Best of luck with posting (especially if it's a smallish fandom).
