(Anonymous) 2017-03-27 01:58 am (UTC)(link)OTOH, if someone asked me why I don't ship Snape with fourth year Hermione, my answer would be: Because seeing statutory rape depicted as sexy squicks me out big time.
In either case, "It's just not my thing," would really be a non-answer. "It's just not my thing," is like a politicians answer; it's very diplomatic, but it doesn't really tell you anything.

(Anonymous) 2017-03-27 03:50 am (UTC)(link)Notice how you didn't say, "because teacher/student is wrong."
You say diplomacy like it's a bad word, when no, being polite should be the default in a communal space. On your own journal, like I said, is another thing.
It's not what OP said, it's how they said it that can be read as being judging of others. I don't care if OP doesn't like incest. I don't care for incest either. I'm not about to go into a comm full of incest kink ships and declare "incest is wrong," just like I'm not going to go into a comm full of dubcon or rape fics and go "rape is wrong" even if people ask why I don't like it, because that's a silly thing to do that is obviously going to make people feel like I'm judging them for shipping the totally fictional things they ship??
