misfire.
also, speaking as an atheist myself, being irreligious is a choice, and although we do face prejudice, it's not like race or gender or not being good looking or being disabled or other things that are not a choice.

I don't know that being irreligious is actually a choice, though?

Even if I thought that believing in a god would be a good thing, I couldn't just make myself believe when the actual evidence for the existence of a deity is so scarce.

I wasn't always an atheist, I was brought up religious. Little kids just believe what they're taught, I didn't start suspecting it was all bullshit until I got older and didn't become a full on atheist until after a lot of asking myself some intense philosophical questions and soul searching. I'd call that a choice.
