At least for me the budding-romance aspect of it was there in early season 1 but by season 2 and onwards it had tapered off into a more platonic work-type relationship(and that's not saying that romances can't be built from that but at least for me it never really managed to go beyond that platonic feel, and I also liked the guys Beckett dated just fine and was annoyed that the show seemed to want me to hate them 'because they got in the way' ugh, same for the women Castle hooked up with too).

Yeah I wasn't a huge fan of Kurt either, I liked aspects about him: his relationship with his dad for instance, but by himself I was just meh over him. But tbh I'm not sure how many characters on that show I actually liked in general(I still don't really know why I watched it, lol).

I agree that the relationship seemed platonic to me. And I do hate when shows want me to dislike a character solely because they "get in the way". (Or worse, they purposely turn a character into a caricature/villain because they get in the way.)

I loved Kurt's dad, and thought the relationship between him and Kurt was the best part of Kurt's character. And agreed on not liking most of the characters. I watched mostly for the music, myself. :D

Yup, it's so damn annoying it's like 'here's this otherwise perfectly nice character but you have to hate them because they're not who x-person is supposed to end up with' and it's like, could you maybe write a/b getting closer instead of this bullshit? Maybe I'd like a/b more then. (Oh god yeah, like the character that's purposefully written as horrible as possible so that you'll hate them and it's not at all a coincidence that the character is a love rival, nope, completely accidental that).

His dad was a sweetheart and probably one of the better-written aspects of that show, at least when I was still watching. Yeah the music was decent which was probably why I stuck about for as long as I did(and why I couldn't stick it out all the way to the end, it only kept me interested for so long :P).
