...you being close to someone with that name irl doesn't change that it's grating to me? I know rl Jacksons, too. I hate the name. It sounds like a last name. Full stop, not changing my mind.

Okay, well, I'm gonna go with diet_poison here. Your opinion is dumb. There are plenty of last names that are more commonly first names, just as Jackson has a long history as both a last and first name.

I don't care whether or not you change your mind about your distaste for the name. I just hope you realize it's a dumb opinion, and as diet_poison said, a bad example for the point you're trying to make.

It's categorically different from a name like Jensen. It's not a new or trendy name (not that those are inherently bad, either). It's one of those names that can be categorized as both.

You don't have to like it, but you sound like you look down on people who choose names like that and there's really no reason to.

People don't have to have reasons for things and yes, they don't have to like things. End of.
