I hated Hook, period, and yeah, when I found out they killed off Neal to make way for this godawful pair, I was out.

I had a major soft spot for Neal. He made mistakes, but he did them all so he could make sure she was OK in the end. And he tried to atone for them. He genuinely tried to make up for his mistakes. How many guys would do that after getting his love (and baby-mama) put in prison and losing her kid?

That atonement shouldn't have been fucking DEATH. Fuck the writers, grr.

AYRT--see, I loved Neal. But I wasn't 100% sold on Swanfire until after he was killed off. I didn't like Swanqueen either until suddenly Captainswan had "won" a really gross game of last man standing and I was like "fuck it, Regina's still in the running and they won't kill her because she's integral to the show." Honestly I'm never gonna be 100% on board with Swanqueen until the show addresses Regina's abuse of Henry and rape and murder of Graham (so, never) but Hook is actively gross to pretty much everyone who isn't Emma, and is still keeping some nasty secrets from her, and one of the writers literally said they liked their relationship because her "no" meant "keep trying." Which is just about 90% of my squicks right there. I went from having no Emma ships to my favorite Emma pairing being Swanfirequeen/Swanqueenfire, with bonus "Hook was dropped down a deep hole and will have to carve his way out with his hook over a couple hundred years." OUAT's writing was never fantastic, but it was my happy fun show until Hook showed up and especially when he was somehow put on the fastrack to redemption in the 2.5 seconds between seasons 2 and 3.
