Sometimes I can't get into shows because they remind me of real life too much, so it makes me cringe. But then again I think there's a genre of comedy like The Office that thrive off of that feeling, called "cringe humor", so I think you're not that alone in that regard. It doesn't really make me enjoy those shows because of my discomfort, but it does help to have a name for these sort of things.
