I don't think i've ever heard of that character trope before.

(but I do love CGP Grey's voice, I admit)

I recognized it immediately, it's the Chandler from Friends.

Explains it; I never watched much of Friends as a whole.

Also I think it's that the trope character in question doesn't stay that way in most stories, lots have an arc where their friends help them stop being so cynical
