Total Physical Lust for a character that they already like and admire is a different kink from Total Physical Lust for someone the character dislikes and feels they shouldn't like, though.

Like, polar opposite kinks.

You're not wrong. OP didn't explicitly frame it that way, which I think is what I was responding to - talking about "brainy types experiencing a sexual awakening" doesn't point to quite the same issues that you do - but it's probably a more realistic and closer interpretation.

It's still a narrative that bugs the heck out of me, but kink is kink, I guess.
