They really are not. Look around online. HR is not your friend. They are there to protect their company.

But HR departments do not have the best track record in protecting employees. Generally what they do is open a file and start a papertrail to benchmark and sanction the complainer so as to be able fire them in 3-6 months time for failing to meet targets of for them being the trouble maker. It is laughably easy for an HR dept. to do that.
