It's honestly pretty rare to have a horror film where someone isn't an idiot, but as far as I can remember The Descent also generally featured most of the characters acting fairly smart under the circumstances. And then even most of the "dumb" things that were done could easily be attributed to a reasonable fear response rather than someone making a clear-headed stupid decision.

So that one gets a high rec from me.

Edit: Also YES. You're Next was actually a big shocker. I expected it to be terrible but it wound up being honestly pretty amazing.

I've heard good things about The Descent, I'll def have to watch it sometime.

Yeah, I thought the same about You're Next. Like, another movie where psychos kill everyone and the heroine runs around crying and hiding. She was great though. We need more characters like that.

I have not. I haven't had much time for movies for the past year or so.

It's about a killer going after a deaf woman and finding that she's not the easy target he expected.

There are parts of the movie that are completely silent. It really adds to the atmosphere.
