The name-manglers didn't drag OP into this. You did. You are the only person in this entire thread who tried to use their unhappy experience to score points. If you don't understand why that's a bad thing, then there's really no hope for you. But if you do understand, even a little, why that is a terrible thing to do to someone, then you will stop making an ass of yourself. If you have even the slightest shred of empathy for other people, you will apologize to OP for exploiting them to further your drama, and you'll think twice before you do something like that again.

Of course, that would mean that you actually have some shred of empathy for other people beyond what makes you sound cool to your tumblr peeps. Personally, I don't think you have it in you.

Well, it was definitely verbal abuse in my case. People can tell themselves it's just innocently making fun of someone's name haha, but the hurt feelings are real. Benedict Cumberbatch might be cool or indifferent with it by now, but I'm not there yet. Being constantly reminded of how my really normal boring name was mangled throughout my school/student years is not fun.
