My name is perfectly normal and boring and didn't invite people to make fun of it. I think it would have been easier for me to think "oh, it's an unusual name/weird spelling, people have a hard time getting it right". But nope, the intention was to hurt, and when it went on for so long that even the teachers joined in at some point - apologetic after they did it, of course, but they heard it so often they started to see it as normal or something. And I was such a shy child, and that didn't make it better.

Sure I'm trying to let go, takes a while though, and I'm not quite there yet. And being constantly reminded of it doesn't help.

As for Sasha being a girl's name - not where I live, nope. Normal, very popular boy's name. But yeah, I get it. One girl in my class was named Jean, but English isn't what comes to mind around here. Everyone thought of French and pronounced it like the French boy's name at first. I hated what people did with my name, so I took care not to fall into that trap.
