I'm so used to Hugh Laurie's British accent, the dissonance between what I'm expecting and what I'm hearing when he's playing House messes me up so bad! I think it's just for Hugh Laurie though, I usually don't notice accents much. He's just so Bertie Wooster, or one half of Fry and Laurie, to me.

Same here. I was already familiar with Hugh Laurie's natural accent so it was his American one that threw me at first!

Same for me. I was so used to Hugh Laurie's regular accent that House was off for me at first, and it took time to get used to his American accent. I've had the same problems watching Alan Cumming and Rupert Graves doing American accents. My brain just doesn't want to accept it.
