Cheating seems to be a big one...I mean, I even understand why some people do it, but for a guy I should be attracted to it's not a great quality.

Yes, I want to be able to admire characters I spend time with, and "can't keep their underpants on when they should" isn't an admirable quality.

It extends to permitted adultery or infidelity too. You made a vow, you stick to it, or break up. Don't go trying to have your cake and eat it. If it's a historical canon, the bargain has still been struck and if the character wants to keep the advantages of the bargain he has to keep the promises he made too. (Slightly less mad when it's a female stuck in an abusive relationship because of power gradient, danger of death, etc.)

If people have an open marriage, if they're both okay with it, I don't see why that's so horrible.

I think (from context) they're talking about situations like "the king is 'allowed' to have mistresses because he is the king and no one can tell him he has to keep it in his pants," not necessarily open marriages where both parties are totally cool with it.
