Re: Interesting Differences

Going to a junior high instead of a middle school. I felt bad for kids in middle school because they weren't going through a "normal" school sequence. Then I found out junior highs are really rare.

Not visiting relatives every Christmas. I grew up in the middle of the US, but my extended family is on the coasts. Most of my friends had their extended family nearby. While my friends had to go spend Christmas with relatives they didn't like and do things the way grandma wants, my family stayed home and made up our own fun traditions.

Junior highs aren't especially rare in the US. Maybe they were in your area IDK but I feel like they're very common in US public school systems.

I live in the Northeast US and I've always assumed junior high was synonymous with middle school.
