Same, OP. Especially because most of the time, they're not very funny and it all comes off rather forced and awkward. Which is fair, because they're musicians, not comedians.

YES. The only time I've seen this actually be funny is Geoff Petersen the skeleton on Craig Ferguson's show, probably because Geoff was voiced by an actual comedian. The rest of the time it's awkward.

AND Craig didn't even have Geoff for a while. Craig was basically the whole show by himself. It's kind of impressive he didn't need anyone to bounce off of.

And Geoff just added to the bizarre nature of Craig's show, so it didn't feel all weird or out of place or whatever.

I miss Craig's late night show :(.

Me too. :(

Apparently Craig has his own drive time radio show now. What I would give to be in the US so I could listen to it.

I came here just to say this myself. I can't watch any of the current late night talk shows with their big flashy bands and non-stop attempts at viral 'bits'.

Craig never had a band and any sketches or skits were intentionally stupid. The amount of entertainment he provided with only a gay robot skeleton and a pantomime horse will never be topped by any of the current shows.

Kevin Eubanks is the perfect poster child for bad late night bandleaders. Jesus, was he the anti-funny.

However, I would argue that more shows need an Andy Richter.

Andy Richter isn't terrible but he still feels like an interloper to me. I'd rather he wasn't there.
