These were both at the same college, 2 years apart. The student housing was basically small apartments rather than single rooms.

Best roommate: Turned out that we had unknowingly grown up less than 5 miles apart, which was hilarious because the college was 150 miles away from where we lived. This was extremely convenient because we could carpool when we went home for holidays. We also turned out to get along super well and are still really good friends 6 years later.

Worst roommate: One of those spoiled people who can't grasp the concept of shared housing and think that the entire place is theirs and you don't have any rights in it. During the unpleasant time we shared housing, she:

*Asked me the first week if it was cool to have her bf visit occasionally, I said sure but let me know when he's gonna be here. She interpreted that to mean that it was perfectly fine to invite him up frequently without ever telling me about it beforehand so that I generally found out he was there by waking up to find him asleep in her bed 4 feet away from me in my bed. Weekends when he was over they would sometimes camp on the living room floor all day (she would drag her mattress out there, blocking my desk and leaving only a very narrow path to get to the door, and they would lie on it watching tv.) During these camp-out sessions she would act very snotty and irritated about it whenever I showed my face in the apartment (as opposed to leaving the apartment entirely to them for the weekend, as she very clearly would have preferred, though I'm not sure where she expected me to go.)

*Sauce for the goose evidently not being sauce for the gander, she really, really did not like it when I had anyone over, and would get huffy and/or sulky when I did, even for a short time.

*Got bent out of shape whenever I wanted to store groceries in the fridge or use the stove, as apparently she was under the impression that these were for her exclusive use

*Frequently had large groups of loud people hanging out in the apartment late at night, or would blast insanely loud music late at night, while I was trying to sleep (I had to keep regular hours because I had a job, which she did not.) I asked her repeatedly to please keep it down after I went to bed. She acted very put-upon whenever I asked her to do this and never altered her noise-making habits a bit

*Constantly going off on passive-aggressive rants about everything I did that pissed her off, which was pretty much everything I did regardless of if it actually affected her or not. If I was not there when her majesty happened to be offended by something, she would write passive aggressive notes about it for me to find. There was no negotiating or talking it out with her on any matter, as she refused to acknowledge it when I attempted to do so

Forgot to mention that I moved out before she did at the end of the year, and after a couple of weeks I got sent a bill from the housing department for damages caused to the carpet by her stupid melted-wax air freshener that I guess she had knocked over or spilled and not bothered to clean up, so they were billing us both because they didn't know who had spilled the wax. This happened after I had moved out, but of course there was no way of proving that, so I had to just cough up the $50 and feel even more resentful towards the wench.

While I recognize that she probably had her own issues and her behavior may have been a result of that, I kind of hope she gets hit by a car. Not killed, just really badly injured.
