Isn't Star Wars kinda a mix of the two? The basic story is essentially a fantasy, with a naive hero who comes into his magic powers with the help of an old wizard type to defeat a horrifically evil villain with the help of a princess and a rogue and a fantasy creature. But it also has space and starships and other planets and guns/weapons. Even the sword battles are sci-fied up with lasers.
