Anne McCaffrey's Crystal Singer trilogy might work (no dragons, no Pern). Lots of planet-hopping and while I guess it's not actually magic what the crystal singers do feels a lot like magic. Especially a bit in the last book with a new type of crystal-like thing they discover.

The Chronicles of St. Mary's series by Jodi Taylor has sci-fi and fantasy flavor to it too though it's not about space but instead time travel (but the muse of History pops up from time to time and there are definite moments where the characters are like, "uh....did magic just happen?"). Either way, I think they're pretty fun (just got done bingeing seven books, okay.)
