(Anonymous) 2017-04-09 02:09 am (UTC)(link)Also. Never be afraid to recommend fanfics if they can be read by someone not in the fandom (or in the fandom, but I assume it means those not). One of books I liked was a fanfic and to be fair not the best book as it was more of a fantasy but it is a good example - Drastically Redefining Protocol which was essentially about modern British monarchy prince falling in love with a poor nurse who was also a wizard. Technically was "Merlin" telly show from BBC in early 2000s but never seen it. The fanfic was cheesy but still.
Also, lots of in-fandom stuff somehow remain unnoticed by people and hell, am willing to consume any media if good reading stuff comes from it. "Teen Wolf" was one and to be fair it was first because friend's friend was in it and a voice actor I liked was an actual live actor (watched till his part and nope - the dude I known via friend and voice actor are different).
Also recced lots of AUs to people when they looked for specific stuff that was niche. One of drivers I worked with really was into detailed and realistic gun descriptions and espionage so told him to read something I forgot now but it was his thing and not mine.
