Find me a source where they say that, because I'd bet anything it's one of those fandom speculations based on a remark someone on the crew made that got transmuted into FACT! by fandom telephone, like how the VA for Lance saying he wanted to see more of Keith and Lance's relationship somehow became "Jeremy Shada said Klance would become canon!" If anything, some things the producers and VAs has said have me convinced they're going with Kallura again this time around.

Yeah lol, I'm pretty sure this is the case. VLD fandom is pretty terrible when it comes to actually reading/watching interviews instead of just parroting something they saw on tumblr and passing it off as fact.

And I agree that the things the staff had said post-S2 makes me think that's where they're going. Like Kimberly Brooks saying she's really excited for the development of Keith and Allura's storyline, Lauren Montgomery saying her favorite episode of S2 was The Ark of Taujeer (the one where Keith and Allura ran away together), Steven Yeun mentioning romance out of nowhere when asked about Keith and Allura's relationship (even if it was just to say "anything can happen", but it kinda felt like a "thou doth protest too much" situation, you know?) etc.
