80. In retrospect, her having a cat pisses me off as a cat owner. Who gets a pet who can live a good ten years if you take good care of it (which she can certainly afford to) when you know exactly when you're going to die unless there's some sort of miracle?

Maybe she was holding out for that miracle? I really, really wanna see Bela-cat fic now where all these questions get resolved. (Because it's not as if the show will ever do it.) =/

I know of three different cats that made it to 23.

I thought the average was more like 15.

It is, if I'm remembering correctly. I only quoted ten years because even if Bela ran out the day after she made the deal to get a kitten to console herself, even if she's had that cat all ten years, it's still going to live longer than she is and she has to have known that.

And Bela's cat is a fucking expensive cat.

You've got to figure that's a house cat, which ups its life span. And that is not only an extremely well-bred Siamese -- I should know from well-bred Siamese cats, my family's had Siamese cats ever since I was born -- that is a young and well-taken-care-of cat. Unless she does something dreadfully wrong with it, that poor gorgeous thing's going to be around longer than she is.

I'd like to think she had a plan for it for when her deal came up, but considering how she spent all season trying to get out of her deal, I'm not so sure. (Then again, I'll bet you any money that cat was her only friend, so. *shrugs*)

I need to go hug my poor toothless Siamese cat now.

I hope she had a good plan. If not, well, thank goodness her cat is a well-bred Siamese, because there are a lot of good breed rescues out there, so there's no reason for her cat to end up at a kill shelter. *shudders*

I typed this while my 18 year old completely free domestic American Shorthair was sitting on my boobs... she is not my only friend but at times in my life she has been my BEST friend. *hugs my cat*

Heh. I got a hand-me-down kitty of sorts -- Otis was one of my parents' cats but the other six were beating him up and treating him like crap. We're talking about a three-year-old cat who had gray fur, that's how traumatized he was. Plus, his teeth were rotten and gray and they hurt.

My mom talked my landlord into letting him stay here and after getting his teeth pulled he turned into an entirely different cat. Now he's a spoiled loudmouthed attention hog. MY CAT. *cuddles him* :)
