32. You kidding? I'd like it better. Sure, yes, she'd be a genki anime girl, but the show is about kids, and I'd take genki over angsty any day of the week. Besides, she'd be a genki anime girl with ambition, fighting skills, a great personality... who was sympathetic because the boy she liked (Sakura, clearly) was hung up on the gorgeous unapproachable angst-ridden princess, Sasuke.

Sasuke as an extremely powerful female ninja with a tragic past whom all the boys go crazy for? Sakura as a male medical ninja with weaker powers than both she!Naruto and she!Sasuke at first, who can do very little but stand aside and watch them fight until he develops more as a person?

And the crux of the show being the relationship (platonic or otherwise, as you see the subtext) between the two kunoichi Naruto and Sasuke, growing from dislike, to friendly rivalry, to deep friendship and a willingness on one side to give up her best shot at power so that the other can live, and on the other to forgive all transgression and bring her friend back (even if she has to break all her bones in the process)?

tl;dr, that sounds like an amazing show. A downright feminist show. (Imagine she!Kakashi's thoughts about he!Sakura: "I see, boys at this age are more interested in love than ninjutsu".)

61. I had the same experience. I went through a situation similar to the one James did, and I found myself having some of the same thoughts (to the point that I could hardly stand to watch some of the flashback scenes). Well done, SH staff, well done. I'd bet money that one of the writers has been through something similar himself.

It is the way I described it, only with the genders reversed. I wish that wouldn't make as much of a difference as it does. Kishimoto focuses entirely on the male characters; with the genders reversed, it would be a show dominated by women.

I reminds me of an exercise we did way back in high school writing class to avoid characters who were gender stereotypes. Take the character, or all characters, and switch their gender. If that drastically alters how you perceive them/they are perceived, you have a stereotype.

Sadly, Kishimoto writes a whole lot of stereotypes, especially with the female cast.

That's really too bad. :(

So would I. While I adored Sakura's character growth in Shippuden, it was too little, too late.

32. That... I am so sad that show doesn't exist outside of your imagination, now. It sounds completely awesome.

If I were a famous mangaka, I'd write it in a heartbeat.

...Shoot, I think I'd actually really get into a show like that. Or at least be able to understand why people would go crazy over it more.

Unfortunately, I think the closest think we'll ever get to a female-dominated, female-centric show both about the relationships between women and women kicking ass, without being hypersexualized for male entertainment, is magical girl anime.

Oh hell, ilu, BSSM.

Progress will be made eventually, probably, hopefully. It'll just take a while.

Really, considering how Japanese culture is...anime is probably seen as pretty "forward-thinking" in their culture. At least some of the shows.

O-oh my god. If all characters in that damn show were sex-switched it would be so amazing... I wish there really were manga like that...

Female!Kisame (which makes more sense anyhow, since female sharks are larger and tougher) and female!Jiraiya (a perverted old women with a soft spot for pretty boys)? Awesome.

I agree with this statement and desperately wish for it to become canon. Because female Kisame is a kink I didn't even know I HAD until now.

Also, female Shino. Now that would be awesome. Becuase she'd be a girl character WHO HAS BUGS CRAWLING OUT OF EVERY PORE. If there was a girl-character who was allowed to be that gross and who was just as cold and efficient as Shino was, I would squee until the cows came home.

I would squee so hard over most of the male-turned-female characters. I mean, come on, girl!Lee!! When has a female character even been allowed to be that adorkable, with huge eyebrows and super asskicking skills? And the whole 'I'll protect Sakura with my life' thing would be much cooler that way too.

It would be a level of adorkable bad-ass hitherto UNSEEN, I say. Female Lee would just... and how he takes after FEMALE Gai-sensei, who is like Lee only taken to an even more extreme level, and.... man I don't even know what else to write. Female gai. That alone is on a level that just blows my mind. She'd constantly duel Kakashi, and as an addition to all the laps and rock-paper-scissors and other duels, female!Gai would totally brag about how her boobs are TOTALLY BIGGER AND MORE YOUTHFUL AND FIRM THAN KAKASHIS. My mind = so blown right now.

And the fandom would make Sakura the pimpest of all. This is good stuff oh yes it is.

Female Akatsuki (would pwn)!! And yes, female!Jiraiya would be awesome XD And male!Tsunade would be interesting too considering the whole 'in denial of ageing' thing and appearance issues (oh, compensating much? XD).

I just re-imagined the scene where Naruto shows Jiraiya the Oiroke no Jutsu with genders switched, and it was a mixture of LOL and OH DAMN YES.

I would watch the show just from how you described it. Definitely. I don't mind Naruto as it is (not one of my favorites, but I'll watch it with others or if it's on), but I would LOVE that show!

Your idea is over 9000 times better than the actual series.
