I personally have a not-so-secret weakness for like, say... if Sora and Kairi get together, or Sora and Riku, and then they break up because they figure out it doesn't work, or it just gets too awkward, or for whatever reason. And dfgsdf still being as close as ever after that? And even consulting each other on future relationships with teasing "I know you like that~" moments? Oh man. Just, friendships that last through break-ups are the sweetest thing ever for me, and I can see any relationship between the three or involving all of them to turn out so easily like that because of their bond. It makes me flail and love all over in a way romantic ships that get their happy endings never could. ♥

That said, I do ship Sora/Riku a little bit rabidly, but I definitely see where you're coming from. Fics with them as friends hanging out and having fun, especially with a Kairi (who is written well and not bitchy or boring), can get me wibbling just as much as fics with them getting together. And yeah, sometimes I do feel like sexualizing them can ruin the purity of their friendship a lot. (I could personally never have a one-night-stand with Riku if he existed, simply because I respect him too much, for example.)

Hmm, I like that idea. The dating/not working/still friends thing. I could definitely get into a fic like that. Too bad fic like that barely exists, if at all. I guess I shouldn't complain, though, since I'm not going to write it either, lol.

And I absolutely hate when authors portray Kairi to be some slut, bitch, or generally unlikeable. I like her! I tend to like male characters more, but Kairi's too nice to not like, you know?

I mean, I have nothing against shipping them, to each their own, right? I just wish there was more genfic.

I think I would definitely write it if I had my muse back. Even just something like a compilation of snapshots would be fairly easy and fun to do, if not a huge epic multi-chaptered that went through the entire deal. XD But yeah, I've mostly just liked the idea of it, and haven't seen it really written -- must make note to find sometime.

Oh god, me too. I mean, I can tolerate it if the fic is good otherwise, but I lose a ton of respect points for the author if they can't think of anything to do with Kairi but put her in that role. What I don't get is that in a lot of those cases, Naminé is someone helpful and kind and well-liked. Like... huh? If you have to have some sort of bitch or enemy-type in your story, you'd think a Nobody (Larxene also works), what with the whole no real sense of morals, would be first on your list.

I admittedly haven't seen a lot, mostly because most genfic concepts haven't appeared to be all that interesting to me. Would you happen to have any recs out of the ones you might have read that do exist?
