They should have been wearing gregorian monk robes.. That video would of been much creepier and apt to the lyrics involved

Would have, not would of. Would've, if you're going for the contraction.

There's a Spanish cover of Skank https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1XzdjtJOhA

And Nicole did a kind of video based on The Police's https://youtu.be/W-pDc4hDhVk

I never thought I'd see The Police mentioned here. Also, a recommendation! :)

I grew up listening to The Police, Phil Collins, Genesis, Peter Gabriel, Eric Clapton, Yes, etc. My mom got me into it because that's what she listened to her entire childhood too!

I've always loved this particular song, but I agree with the music video critique. The Police have always had an issue with that. Compared to say, Phil Collins' frantic posturing and admirably creepy faces in "Mama" (https://vimeo.com/32214540), a song all about a young man developing a growing, disturbing obsession with an older prostitute, Peter Gabriel's still trippy-and-disturbing "Shock The Monkey" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnVf1ZoCJSo), or Genesis's brilliant political and cultural satire with puppets in "Land Of Confusion" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHmH1xQ2Pf4), The Police's stuff generally falls flat in the music video department. I'd kill for a music video that accurately captures the creepy, haunting lyrics of "King Of Pain" for instance.

Finally, a random recommendation! Normally I'm picky with re-imaginings, but I really love this stripped, one-instrument verson of "Roxanne", complete with gorgeous vocals:

Speaking of creepy songs without proper music videos, "Home By The Sea" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=il-9D9NPxWc) has none, and it's just ripe for a super creepy song. If you don't feel like listening to the entire song, I'll just post a link to the lyrics:

It's about a thief who breaks into an old, decrepit mansion on a cliff and gets way more than he bargained for when he realizes he's not alone...and he'll never be alone again.

I always sort of associate Wrapped Around Your Finger with the Earthsea trilogy. Which is sort of reasonable with certain aspects of the lyrics, but mostly i think i was just listening to that album around the time I did a reread of them years and years ago. Same reason the Stone Roses is always The Sandman (especially The Kindly Ones) for me.
