Outside their pregnancy, yes, but if they're expecting (ha) all their social circle to totally rethink and recenter themselves around the pregnancy, not so much.

... uh huh? Not sure why you thought my comment disagrees with this. My reply was to the person saying the pregnant woman was better off without OP. I'm pointing out that no, it's the pregnant woman who's wrong in this case because it'd be healthier for her whole life not to revolve around her baby so much that she thinks a sonogram is a nifty birthday present.
