Those crazy Ancients and their wacky machines and doodads, such handy plot devices!

I'm surprised there wasn't more gender wank, to be honest. I guess at the time they were too consumed with race wank to care.

I missed the race wank, what was the gist again? I do remember a fight over there supposedly being no Jewish people with ancient gene and that meant the show was anti-semitic somehow, was it that?

race wank had to do with the trend in some AUs (mostly McKay/Sheppard ones, because lets be honest that's what 90% of the fandom was), had the non-white characters either not in the fic at all, or put into some roll that some fans saw as "lesser."

I vaguely remember the antisemitic stuff. Towards the end I feel like people were just looking for stuff to get riled up about. I mean I won't argue that the show didn't have it's issues with race, but the fandom just went nuts towards other fanworks.
