I don't really mind it but vastly prefer meatspace if we're going to be using our voices. Facebook/email/text is fine (Facebook strongly preferred, that and Steam for the people I communicate with that way), talking in person is fine, phone is an inconvenience that shouldn't be used to hold long conversations except in really specific circumstances (like if one of the phone talkers is on a long road trip or something).

I'd make an exception for staying up late talking to a significant other who you can't be with in person at the time, but it's been so many years since I've done that (and when I did it was before text/fbpm were convenient alternatives for me) that I'll have to reserve judgment on whether that's still a good option when I actually find myself in a relationship again.
