They make me roll my eyes usually, but I've quit fic for them before. Most hated/widely used one for me is Sesshy for Sesshoumaru in the Inuyasha fandom. That character would *literally* use his bare claws to rip the guts out of anyone who called him that, even in fics where he's chilled out some from the ice-hearted jerk he is in canon.
