(Anonymous) 2017-04-18 12:36 am (UTC)(link)I don't find it overly dated, because IMO it already feels slightly unreal and anachronistic due to having its roots in an 18th century novel. But to the degree that it does feel 90's, I like that about it.
And I can't really imagine it without RP and SMG. I thought they delivered exactly what was needed for their roles, and their chemistry was exactly as twisted and intense as was needed.

Huh, it says the reboot is dead in the water. Shame, the fandom's hypothetical descent into wank would have been glorious.
Anyway, the movie was a product of its time. And iirc the 90's version was also a remake of the original movie.
Or you could go with any of a myriad of other versions.
