Perhaps oddly, I feel the exact opposite way for the same reason! I prefer Star Trek to Star Wars in part because the post-TFA Star Wars fandom is so filled with contrived discourse. And a huge number of my mutual followers on Tumblr became Star Wars blogs when TFA came out, so the drama feels inescapable.

I'm mostly a TOS and DS9 fan, and pay little attention to the reboot movies or the drama surrounding them, so I imagine that shields me from a lot.
