I mean, Ruby and Barb have had about as much character development as any other character that isn't named in the opening theme or Peridot, and they haven't turned evil yet.

Besides, fanon Jasper usually isn't even particularly butch. Just buff.

I didn't think of Barb! Yeah, I guess she qualifies as butch.

(I wouldn't say Ruby is butch per se, though. She has some traits that could be described as masculine, but you could say the same for Amethyst.)

Not exactly related, but my headcanon voice for Undyne is Jasper. It's weird whenever I'm watching an LP of the game and it's not that voice.

On topic, it does concern me that all the "butch" characters get that treatment. At this rate, if Jasper isn't redeemed, I don't see them breaking any stereotypes with them.

Canon Jasper's not that butch. She's big and strong, sure, but she's also the drama queen who put on a swishy cape to impress her enemies, and her eyeliner's fucking perfect. Having biceps does not butch make.
