To be honest I had no idea this had a serious fandom at all. I've seen it around here or there, but I thought the vast majority of the "fandom" was memes about Aoba's moaning and porn of the two yakuza. So the idea that it has diehard fans who stan it like it's the best thing of all time and fuck you if you disagree is really amusing to me.

That could be about the audio, but I still think a lot of the sound effects were likely loud on purpose because it's sex sounds in a sex game. It seems reasonable to expect that sexual stuff is going to be a bit overboard in this genre. It honestly didn't bother me at all in Dramatical Murder, but I'm not saying OP is wrong for finding it off-putting, either.

To each their own, but as someone who has read a lot of bad yaoi, I thought most of the cast was really well-developed (especially considering it's a a gay porn VN). I'm not sure what 'seme cutouts' would mean because all the romantic options have vastly different personalities and they all had developed backstories, and with the exception of Mink, the sex is consensual. I agree Mink was awful, but I don't think his characterization is what's weak, what's weak is how the story insists that every couple have a happy, fluffy ending despite wanting to include a rape/submission scenario (which on its own I think is perfectly fine to include, and it fit fine with the tone of the novel, and more than that, it was portrayed as pretty serious and scary iirc, until the ending where Aoba's forgiven him and runs off to find him).

As for things like rape and Aoba being a bottom, idk? Common themes in BL, sure, but nothing inherently wrong with that either when we're talking about kinks. I would've liked to see Aoba top once or twice too, but that didn't exactly ruin the game for me, either. Especially since at least Aoba was portrayed as an adult, and masculine (as opposed to being shoehorned into a forced "feminine" or child-like role/appearance as is common in yaoi) so I never felt like it was a weird gendered thing.
